In a normal year, we’d be inviting you to Bantry to participate in a challenge that takes in an island run, a kayak paddle across Bantry Bay, and a cycle to the Sheep’s Head peninsula and back.
This year we’re holding a virtual event – you take on the usual challenges alone or as a team and report back to us in Bantry, sharing news about how you got on and raising money for some great local charities in the process.
What form does the event take this year?
- Run 5k
- Cycle 22.5k
- Kayak 1,500m (or take any another activity of your choice, doesn’t have to be water based)
You can also hear from the experts at our Adventure Racing Webinar (2 hours) FREE (date & time tbc)
- Adv Racing Preparation
- Personal Prep for AR – Nutrition/ hydration, tips on gear & kit
- All Things Bike – Road & Mountain Biking
- Skills and training
Where can I take part?
Somewhere safe anywhere in the world! Spot prizes will be on offer for those who complete the event in Bantry (we’ll be at our usual departure point at Bantry’s Abbey Pier.
Can individuals and teams take part?
You can complete your three BBAR legs as an individual, or split the tasks between your team.
Individually (Complete all of the above as an individual over the weekend)
Team (Teams of 3, take a leg each to complete the BBAR 2021 Challenge)
How do we prove we took part?
After registration and close to the weekend of the challenge, we’ll send you a link which will allow you to upload photos and video clips of your BBAR adventure, as well as proof that you have completed each leg! You can use Strava, MapmyRun and similar tools to provide your evidence.
How much does it cost to enter?
The €20 fee, minus the payment processor’s charge, will be split between two charities: BISRA – Bantry’s Inshore Rescue Association – and West Cork Women Against Violence, a local charity that supports people who are affected by domestic violence.
You will receive an E-Certificate Medal after you submit evidence of completing the event and photos/clips too, if you have them!
